It's weird to see YouTubers react to the band Emery for the first time, or people saying things like "yeah, they were part of the movement".
Because I was in that 'scene' in 2004-2012 (and still, tbh), but I lived in a pre-smartphone Netherlands and besides some familiar faces I'd see offline at Melkweg (or 013 & Effenaar) or online at Last.fm, it felt like only a 100 people knew about this music.
And now I'm finding out that for thousands of people this was their jam. Even some people who, because of when they were born, missed the beginning and look at it as some kind of distant history.
But it was not 'history' to me.. I literally lived it.. And, so I get it now.. when people say "Oh man Woodstock 69.. you had to be there".
It's making me feel old and cool at the same time..
